Electro-pop duo Damn the Witch Siren released their debut album Back to Dreaming in October 2015. With “magical tracks that will make listeners put on their most mystical crystal necklace and cast a circle” (NYLON), the album’s theme is wrapped around feminism, spirituality, and merging fantasy with reality.
Based in Columbus, Ohio, Damn the Witch Siren is comprised of Bobbi Kitten and Z Wolf. “Inspired by the twinkling pop of the 80s, as well as the moody beats of trip-hop and the bubbly synths of 8-bit music" (LADYGUNN), the duo describes their genre as “witch-pop”. Completely DIY, multi-instrumentalists, and producers- Damn the Witch Siren writes, records, produces, mixes, and masters all of their music in their home studio they built last winter. Known for their live performances, their shows are filled with “choreographed dance moves, seizure-inducing visuals, and a buzzing cacophony of 8-bit arpeggios and blunt electronic beats” (614 Magazine), “"The multi-media onslaught of Bobbi Kitten and Z Wolf truly has no precedent or peer among the Columbus scene...theirs is as much a rock concert as it is an exultant sideshow.”
Bobbi Kitten and Z Wolf hit their local scene at the tail end of 2013. After releasing their debut EP Superdelicious in May 2014, they began to catch a lot of local attention for their zany, energetic shows that feature dancing, theatrical fashion, and maniacal vocal effects backed by synchronized lights and music videos. And a wolf mask. In less than a year following the release of Superdelicious, Damn the Witch Siren had graced the cover of 614 Magazine, performed at a TedX Talk, and was nominated by Columbus Alive as an act most likely to go national in their annual Bands To Watch feature in early 2015.
With recent releases from the new album premiering on NYLON Magazine, PopMatters, LADYGUNN, Impose Magazine, etc., the new LP is “an ethereal, hyperactive romp through floral sounds and exotic synth-fed mysticism” (Vanyaland) and has provided a prelude for Damn the Witch Siren as they set their sights on touring the country in 2016.
